Novartis Manufacturing LLC, a Swiss-based drugmaker, has announced plans to double the size of its Indianapolis manufacturing plant. The expansion, which will involve the construction of a new 79,000-square-foot building, is expected to create 55 jobs with an average salary of $95,000. The company recently received approval from the FDA for commercial manufacturing at the site, and it anticipates growing demand for its nuclear medicine imaging and therapy products for cancer treatment. Novartis is attracted to Indianapolis due to its central location, talented workforce, and history in pharmaceutical drug-making. The company is seeking tax abatements for the expansion and expects the manufacturing site to employ around 225 people with a total capital investment of $300 million.
